2023-24 track season
2023-24 TRACK SEASON - started on Tuesday 3rd of October 2023.
The first 6 round of the 2022-23 Gippsland Athletics Summer season have now been completed.
We have been fortunate to have a regular number of competitors each week in variable weather conditions.
The stand out performances so far for the season -
Womens U/14 - Zaria Dalton running a great PB and just missing the U14 Womens 200m record.
Mens U/14 - Jack Riddle throwing a 12.23 shotput, just missing the 12.36m record set in 1994.
Mens Masters - Simon Van Baalen setting a number of records in discus and shotput, with lighter weights thanks to a new age bracket.
The summer track season will continue most Tuesdays (6pm) from early October to late February.
First time athletes are welcome for a two week trial, while it's preffered that returning athletes are registered with Athletics Victoria.

Country Champs 2023
The Victorian Country championships were held in Geelong from Thursday 26th until Saturday 28th of January 2023 at the John Landy Athletics Field, Barwon Terrace, South Geelong VIC 3220.
Our small club was represented by 5 athletes, Zaria Dalton, Fiona Saltmarsh, Aaron Saltmarsh-Milne, Jude Fernando and myself (Simon Van Baalen).
We were a small, but very competitive team who have had some great results against some strong competitors from around the state.
Zaria had a couple of PB and got Bronze medals in her 200m and 400m events. Aaron competed well in some tough fields, finishing just outside the medals.
In Masters, Fiona brought home a Bronze medal in her hammer event. Jude (40+) had a PB in the 400 hurdles to claim the Gold, he then followed that up with Silvers in long and triple jumps and a Bronze in the 100m.
The highlights for me were Gold Medals in 40+ Hammer, Discus and Shotput as well as a Silver in the Javelin after a great competition where the lead changed hands 5 times.
We all had a great few days at the event, where we all supported each other where possible and proudly represented Gippsland Athletics Club.
