Gippsland Athletics club was founded in 1955. Our aim is to promote, encourage and improve athletic competition in the Gippsland Region. We offer a relaxed and friendly environment for individuals and families and encourage participation from all ages and abilities. Athletes compete in age groups from U14 up to Masters. Regular track and field competition is held from October to March on Tuesday evenings starting at 6.00pm at the Joe Carmody Athletics Track in Newborough.
2025-26 TRACK SEASON - We're up and running in 2025.
The summer track season is well underway and will continue most Tuesdays (6pm) from early October to late February.
We are a small but friendly club and welcome and encourage people of all abilities to come and give athletics a try.
We cater for athletes from 11 years of age up to masters athletes of any age, with age groups from U/14 to Masters (40+).
First time athletes are welcome for a two week trial and should aim to be at the track before 6pm. Returning athletes should be registered with Athletics Victoria prior to competing.

Joining and fees
The AV portal is 'live' for the 2025/26 season (April 1 - March 31).
Fees for the 2025/26 season have been released by Athletics Victoria and more information can be found on "Join" page for cost details and links to completing your registration.
The Victorian Country Championships are being held in Albury at the Les O’Brien Athletics Precinct, 229 North St, Albury, Saturday 24th – Monday 26th January 2026.
Last year the club was very well represented with the team bringing home a big bag of medals, roughly 30 in total, with more than 10 being gold.
Every athlete competed to their highest level and gave it their all, with some missing out on medals, some getting their first age group medals and others adding more bling to the collection.
Entry details can be found on the Athletics Victoria website under the Quest Albury Victorian Counrty Championships. Entries close Midday, Monday 19th January 2026. You will need club uniform to compete at this event, we have a small amount of stock available, so get in touch if you need something.
For those attending, the club will be given helper duty requirements in the week before the event and a roster will be made up to help cover those duties.

The annual Vern Curnow Pentathlon washeld on Tuesday 9th of December 2025.
We had some excellent performances on the night, and a couple of really close contests.
We had 12 athletes competing, with nearly all from Gippsland Athletics Club, so Gippsland Athletics were the club winners on the night.
Full results can be found in the results section. There were 3 records broken, with Zaria Dalton breaking the U/16 Women's long jump and Sarah Lewis breaking the Masters Womens Long Jump and Pentathlon records.
This marked a somewhat sad occasion as Sarah's excellent performance in the long jump removed Life Member (dec) Heather Daldry's last remaining record from the record books. I'm sure Heather would have been happy to see her records beaten by such great athletes.
